This MDS package combines a compatible vehicle communication interface with a configured laptop for supported McLaren vehicles through approximately the 2022/23 model range. Available functions depend on the vehicle, software build and access level. Confirm the model, year and required task with KKS before ordering.

Coverage and Offline Limitations

The package is intended for supported McLaren vehicles through approximately the 2022/23 model range. Available diagnostics, testing, coding, adaptation and programming functions are vehicle-specific and may vary depending on the model, control unit and software version.

If a function or procedure is supported by MDS for the specific vehicle and control unit, it can be performed within the available MDS environment.

The offline MDS version supports most common workshop diagnostic and programming functions. Current offline limitations include:

  • IC Coding String โ€“ read only
  • SCUG Coding String โ€“ read only
  • Guided Functions โ€“ not available
  • McLaren Portal / Image Display โ€“ not available

IC and SCUG Coding Strings are mainly used for specific factory-level configuration procedures, such as replacement or configuration of the Instrument Cluster or SCUG gateway module. These functions are not commonly required for routine diagnostics, service work or most ECU/module programming procedures.

Workshop-information bonus

A separate McLaren workshop-information service may be included as a complimentary bonus. This is not lifetime access. It begins when activated and is provided for a fixed period subject to availability and the terms confirmed on the order.

Support boundaries

KKS provides basic usage guidance for the supplied hardware and software. This does not include step-by-step mechanical repair, diagnosis of the customer's vehicle or responsibility for programming outcomes. Advanced procedures should be performed by a qualified technician with stable vehicle power and appropriate service information.

Just wanted to check back in here, the gps has been working flawlessly. That one day I had gps issues seems like an isolated glitch or maybe an iOS issue. Very happy with the unit. drove a couple hours today, everything worked flawlessly again, including gps. At this point, it seems clear to me that itโ€™s worth $1200, given that thereโ€™s no loss of functionality and it either fully works, or very nearly fully works, and likely will improve.

Just bought the McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS) from KKS and wanted to share my experience. So, a bit about me: I'm from Taiwan and I own a 720S. I love DIY stuff, so I needed an MDS. I saw KKS selling the McLaren MDS Official Diagnostic Tool Kit and reached out on WhatsApp. They replied quickly and were super smooth with the pre-sale service. But I was a bit worried it might be a scam since theyโ€™re a new account with 0 reviews. To be safe, I suggested meeting up in person to test the MDS. They were cool with it, so I made a small deposit and booked a same-day return flight to Hong Kong. KKS even offered to pick me up from the airport in their McLaren. When I got there, they let me test the MDS on their car, and it worked perfectly, reading all the data correctly. Back in Taiwan, I connected the MDS to my 720S and it also works fine. I'm still studying the MDS to learn how to use all the functions properly. 5 stars to KKS! They sell legit stuff and their service is top-notch. Highly recommend them!

Dear KKS-Team, thank you for developing that Box for my McLaren 720 S. It is simply awesome, and works perfectly reliable. Easy to use easy to install itself by plugging in 3 cable to the car slots. Just plug it in and connect your phone, done. The only challenge is getting to the slots. Herefor you need to unmount the back wall of the interior., this is quite tricky for unexperienced DIY guys like me, but surely possible. And this is due to the car not to the box. Itโ€™s is a real upgrade for the car, because the standard IRIS system is, as owners know, not quite the best. The rest is clear you operate Apple CarPlay, which is the same as you know Thank you so much Thomas Besides that Iโ€™m writing from Germany, so please excuse misspellingโ€ฆ. Itโ€™s not my native language. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great unit, worked exactly as promised. Needed to recalibrate a power seat after replacing a faulty seat module and reset the airbag fault. The cost of having this work performed at the nearest dealership 200 miles away would probably exceeded the price of the MDS. Only reason I didnโ€™t give it 5 stars is due to the lack of documentation. Fortunately it was easy enough to figure out what all the acronyms stand for and how to perform basic functions. Well done KKS.
